Not sure what it is exactly that makes it more appealing to be up and awake at 3:22 AM than at 8:22 AM.

Not sure that I really need to care that it really should be the other way around.

Because why worry about yet another of life’s mysteries when I already know one thing for certain?

(That one thing, of course, is that there are few better ways to spend a 3:22 AM than sitting in bed, listening to Amy Winehouse sing the Beatles.

C’est la vie. And la vie is pretty freakin grand right about now.)

1) New year, new start. Do something life-changing I’ve never done.

2) Take time once in a while to remember the me from before.

3) Meet more people. Make new friends. Be real with them.

4) Reconnect with old friends. Be real with them.

5) Take more pictures.

6) Don’t forget that life happens outside of camera lenses.

7) Read again. Make lists and lists of books I want to finish. Finish them.

8) Write again. Dust off that muse that I’ve been neglecting.

9) Think things through. Make sure my list of regrets stays blank.

10) Make a decision completely uninhibited by reason. Live passionately.

11) Inspire.

12) Be inspired.

13) And maybe, just maybe, be ready for you.

I am leaving soon.

What are people supposed to feel moments before they travel? Excitement? Apprehension? Determination? Trepidation? Some combination of all of those?

I’m having trouble deciphering what exactly is coursing through my mind right now. But whatever that feeling I’m feeling is, I know for certain that this is the most awake and aware I’ve been in a long while. Which tells me that maybe this vacation is coming at the right time.
